BESPOKE TYPOGRAPHY BUXTON NUMERALS
A closer look at our bespoke Buxton numerals

A distincitve feature of the standard Buxton model is the set of custom numerals on the dial, Buxton Stencil. Our in-house design team created the unique set of characters to evoke the landscape and geography of the town at the heart of the Andrew Michaels brand story and the surrounding Peak District National Park. This landsape inspired the Andrew Michaels monogram which is made up of three distinct peaks, one of which is Mam Tor, a broad and imposing hill whose slopes are constantly reshaped by landslides.

The bespoke typeface has a particularly square structure which echoes the hill’s grounded block-like presence, with a stencil construction that fells like a footprint on the dial. Framed by softened contours around the corners of the numerals, th circular forms create a visual connection with another location central to the Andrew Michaels story. Buxton Crescent was built between 1780 and 1789 and faces the site of St Ann's Well, where warm spring water has flowed for thousands of years. Andrew learned to swim in the baths below the building and would drink water from the well as a child.

We can offer bespoke typographic designs for your purpose made project. Custom designed numerals can play a crucial role in expressing brand identity and can transform your timepiece from a functional object into a distinctive brand statement. In a highly competitive luxury market, small details often carry the greatest meaning, and numerals are among the most visible and frequently engaged-with elements of a watch dial.

For a limited edition watch, exclusivity is essential. Bespoke numerals contribute to this by creating a dial that cannot be replicated elsewhere. Ultimately, bespoke numerals can help transform your limited edition watch into a lasting symbol of your organisation—one that feels purposeful, distinctive, and worthy of its exclusivity.
